TLDR: I turned off NLA (Network Level Authentication) in the Remote Desktop settings.
I had been using RDP on my iPhone, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro to connect to my home Windows 10 Pro then upgraded to Windows 11 Pro with no issues. Once I purchased a new router, set up Port Forwarding, all worked fine for a week until a couple of weeks ago. Then I could not connect outside of my house and had the same 0x204 error until I turned off NLA. Now everything works again.
