Tabs in Excel seem to stick to mouse pointer and will behave as if the user wants to move them.

I've had 2 users now complain that when they are using Excel (Online or Desktop), when they are clicking thru tabs in a workbook, the tab "sticks" to the mouse and starts to move the sheet. Its not something they are intending on doing nor is it reproducible from my end. Has anyone noticed a similar behavior? I've found no identifiable correlation between the files being edited (versions, size, site, etc). Any insight would be appreciated.

Sorry, I hadn't checked on this for a while. I was unable to reproduce the issue as well. I was simply floating the question out there to see if it was something others had experienced. Doesn't sound like it which leads me to believe that the users that have experienced this may be having resource issues on their systems, resulting in a laggy mouse experience which then manifests itself as a "stuck click".

Did this problem appear in the same Workbook? What version of Excel did they use? Please go to File- Account and provide the detail information about Office:
Try to repair Office product and check the result: repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b

Thanks @Emi Zhang-MSFT the issue occurs across 3 different files (that have been reported) and none of them are being used by the other user. Also one user is only using Outlook on the web whereas the other user is using the Excel desktop client version 2002:

Its really more a question on whether this behavior has been seen by others. If not, then there's another situation in play.

I cannot reproduce this problem in the same version Office:

Try to open Excel in safe mode: Press Win + R, type "excel /safe" in the blank box, press Enter. If it works fine in safe mode, please check the add-ins in your excel and disable them.

And also confirm the users install any third programs in PC, try to disable or uninstall them and check the result.

Hi,

Suspected behavior can direct to the file might be infected by a VIRUS

If you suspect its a version issue copy the contents to another excel version 2016 or lower version local, not online, disconnect the system from internet and check

Scan the system from a different antivirus program or you can use the following

does this content macro-enabled?

Is this content coming from the OLD file? Checked the saved file type and version and contents carrying

Are these contents carrying any links between the TABS?
