Scheduling in project

Hi. For projects. I have a task that is allocated to 1 person for 21 hours, but this is to be worked over a period of 2 months, in bits and pieces that cannot be scheduled separately. Is there any way in which to "override" the process to type in the 21 hours in the duration column and to type in the correct start and finish dates to show the results that I want? Thanks
