Does Windows Server terminal services (or whatever the marketing people it today) support multifactor authentication or do I have to get a third part app for it?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to terminal services and MFA.

Yes, Windows Server's Remote Desktop Services support MFA. Prerequisites:

    Remote Desktop Gateway

    Azure AD MFA License

NPS Server with NPS Extension installed

Azure Active Directory synced with on-premises Active Directory

Integrate your Remote Desktop Gateway infrastructure using the NPS extension and Azure AD.

Ensure the MFA method chosen does not require users to input any type of code/OTP for the second factor of authentication, as the Remote Desktop Connection does not provide an option to enter a code. Use Phone Call or Authenticator App notification instead.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
