APIM Developer Portal - The option to enable the developer portal is not visible in Portal Settings.

I have deployed an Azure API Management resource, and set the pricing tier to Standard.

However, I can't see the option to enable the developer portal in the Portal Settings.

My account has Owner RBAC at the Subscription level.

Can anyone please suggest any ideas on how to enabled the developer portal?

Hello Richard Landy,

In Azure API Management service, if you are using the Standard tier, there is no enable option available. This is by design, as this tier does not include the enable option, as shown in the image below.

image (27) So if you need the enable option, we suggest you upgrade to the Standard V2 so that you can use the enable option as shown in image below.

I'm confused as the pricing tier options show that the Developer portal should be available under the highlighted tiers shown below.

Standard v2 is greyed out for me. I've deployed APIM in UKSouth.

Is this documentation out of date now, and is V2 only available in the US regions?

Hello Richard Landy,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Right now, it's not possible to move an existing API Management instance (whether it's in the Consumption, Developer, Basic, Standard, or Premium tier) to a new v2 tier instance. For you better understanding please refer this "Azure API Management v2 tiers"

Also, check this Availability of v2 tiers document to check the region availability, as I have checked the region UKSouth was available.

So, if you want to use the Developer portal ENABLE option try creating a new V2 instance at the available region.

Thank you, I've re-created the APIM using the Basic V2 tier and the Developer Portal option is now available. It may help others if the pricing tier options are updated to show that the Developer Portal is not available with the classic tier options.
