After the last Windows 10 update when I try to use my Reverb G2 headset instead of opening Windows mixed reality it opens a notification page on the mixed reality portal saying couldn't install Windows mixed reality and that Windows mixed reality needs an update, Go to settings > Update and security to check for update, Which I have done several times...There is no update. I have also tried to uninstall Windows mixed reality and reinstall it but I just end up back with the same message. Finally, I also tried uninstalling the latest Windows 10 update but it doesn't seem to let me?

It took me a few days but I have Windows Mixed Reality and my Reverb G2 headset working again! I ended up updating to Windows 11. The key is not allowing Windows 11 to update past version 23H2 as this is the final version that retains support for Windows Mixed Reality. Obviously given Windows is dumping support for Windows Mixed Reality all together in October or November this fix won't last forever but at least maybe someone will come out with a software fix to replace WMR before then! FYI: I did have to turn on TPM 2.0 in the bios to be able to update to Windows 11. Also make sure that you turn off auto updates in settings. Keep in mind that you could be vulnerable to possible security issues given you can't install the updates/security patches to windows 11 beyond version 23H2.

Accepted Answer! This appears to be the only fix that I could get to work. The latest windows 10 update can't be uninstalled so the only option I could find is going to Windows 11 and not allowing it to update beyond Windows 11 version 23H2 which is the last version to support Windows Mixed Reality. Keep in mind, your hardware will need to support TPM 2.0. You may need to go into the bios to turn on the TMP 2.0 setting. This process will be different depending on your hardware! If your hardware is too old in may not support TPM 2.0 security protocols.
