About migrating SUSDB to D drive

SUSDBの容量増加に伴い、下記URLの手順にて「C:\Windows\WID」をDドライブに移行することを検討しています。

お手数ですが本手順に誤りが無いか、実施に当たり懸念事項・注意点等が無いかご確認いただけないでしょうか。

Are you performing the proper WSUS maintenance including but not limited to running the Server Cleanup Wizard (SCW), declining superseded updates, running the SQL Indexing script, etc.?

Your database shouldn't be large, what is the size of your database itself? The Combination of the SUSDB.mdf and SUSDB_log.ldf?

サーバークリーンアップウィザード (SCW) の実行、置き換えられた更新プログラムの拒否

⇒これから実施し、SUSDBのサイズが小さくなるか確認予定です。

SQL インデックススクリプトの実行

⇒実施しておりません。※お分かりでしたら内容を教えていただきたいです。

データベース自体のサイズ

⇒現状は以下のサイズになっております。

SUSDB.mdf 　　　…37GB

SUSDB_log.ldf 　…2.6GB

また今回の作業(SUSDBを別の場所へ移動)を実施した場合、

戻す方法もお分かりでしたら教えていただきたいです。

If you want the simple answer, WSUS Automated Maintenance (WAM) would fix this for you. Full disclosure - WAM is our product.

WSUSで不要な更新プログラムを削除しましたが、SUSDBのファイルサイズに変更はありませんでした。動作的には想定通りになりますでしょうか。

お知らせいただいたガイドのパート 8 とそこに記載されているリンクを拝見しましたが、ポイントが複数に分かれており、正直どこを参照すればよいか、的をしぼれておりません。

こちらで把握したい内容としましては、

・下記URLの手順にて「C:\Windows\WID」をDドライブに移行する手順に問題や懸念事項はないか

・上記の作業(SUSDBを別の場所へ移動)を実施した場合の戻し方法

If you are looking for 1 specific thing, moving the database, yes, go ahead. It will work fine. Problem is that this is a SYMPTOM of lack of proper WSUS Maintenance.

WAM would likely reduce your database from 37GB to ~8GB and your log file from the 2.6GB to less than 500MB. After it ran the initial -FirstRun, you would have to manually run the -SQLDatabaseShrink to have it reduce the current database size because SQL doesn't recover used space - it only marks it as usable space and WAM runs this shrinking process by default every 3 months but it can be changed to monthly in the configuration.

To give you some context, ~5GB to ~15GB is about normal.
