Impact of Enhanced Backup Policy on Performance & Compatibility with Existing Backup Vault

We are adding a new VM to our existing Backup Vault and have a couple of questions regarding the new Enhanced Backup Policy.

The new policy defaults to multiple backups per day (every 4 hours) and retains backups for 12 hours. Our concern is that these frequent backups might impact application performance during backup operations. Should we be concerned about potential slowdowns, and are there any best practices to mitigate performance impact?

Is it acceptable to apply the Enhanced Backup Policy to our existing Backup Vault, or are there any compatibility or configuration considerations we should be aware of?

    Hi,

There is no impact on performance. Backups are done via snapshots:

"As part of the backup process, a snapshot is taken, and the data is transferred to the Recovery Services vault with no impact on production workloads. The snapshot provides different levels of consistency, as described here. You can opt for an agent-based application-consistent/file-consistent backup or an agentless crash-consistent backup in the backup policy."
