What is the equivalent of "UWP device apps" in the new Windows App SDK?

We would like to create an app that gets automatically installed via Windows Store when our device is plugged in over the USB port. "UWP device apps", link below, seems to be a choice to develop this app. However, further reading we found that MS is 'deprecating' new feature addition for UWP and we should be migrating to Windows App SDK.
Is there an equivalent feature set in "Windows App SDK" to do similar thing? Can you point us to the documentation for this?
If not now will there be a future addition for "device apps" flow in the new SDK?
