Copilot Transcription Concerns for Compliance

In a financial institution with strict compliance and regulatory processes, the use of Copilot is limited due to its transcription capabilities. This functionality captures meeting or call transcriptions, which poses challenges for note-taking in such contexts.

Are there any upcoming features or roadmap items that would enable transcription in Copilot while ensuring that the transcription is not included in the meeting recap, nor saved or made available for download from a user's OneDrive?

By default, Meeting Copilot needs transcription to be activated in order to work. However, meeting organizers can set up meeting options to allow Meeting Copilot to work without a persistent transcript.

To change this setting, organizers can go to Meeting Options -> Copilot -> Select Only during the meeting (former setting was named Without Transcription) from the dropdown menu. Once the setting is enabled, users can enable Copilot during the meeting while transcription is not enabled. This setting allows a temporary transcript to be automatically generated for Copilot use even when a transcription is not activated by users. That temporary transcript is permanently deleted after the meeting ends.
