Missing Option to Add Your Data for DeepSeek Model in Azure AI Chat Playground

When evaluating different models in Azure AI Foundry against my own data in Azure AI Search, the option to add your data for the DeepSeek-R1 model in the chat playground seems to be missing. This feature was available previously but disappeared on February 18 ET. However, the option to add your data still appears when GPT models are selected.

    Hi Samir Pathak,

I understood that you are facing issue where the "Add your data" option is missing for the DeepSeek-R1 model in Azure AI Chat Playground but is available for GPT models.

The issue is likely due to following causes:

Model-Specific Feature Limitation: Microsoft may have removed or restricted the "Add your data" feature for DeepSeek-R1 due to compatibility issues or licensing changes.

The feature could be temporarily disabled for DeepSeek-R1 while updates or improvements are being implemented.

Service Update on February 18: Azure AI Services frequently updates its features and model capabilities, since you noticed the issue started on February 18, it is possible that Microsoft made an update affecting this functionality.

Deployment Configuration Changes: If you/anyone has made changes to Azure AI Foundry settings, certain features might have been restricted for DeepSeek-R1.

Model Version Changes__:__ As you are using DeepSeek-R1 (version:1), If Azure has updated the model version, older versions might not support "Add your data."

Here I will provide possible solutions below to fix the issue:

Verify if "Add Your Data" is Available for Other DeepSeek Versions

Go to Azure AI Foundry → Chat Playground.

Try selecting a different DeepSeek model version (if available).

If other versions support "Add your data," the issue might be version-specific.

Check Azure AI Services Update Logs

Visit Azure AI Service Updates to see if Microsoft made any changes that removed this feature for DeepSeek-R1.

If a recent update affected DeepSeek models, you may need to wait for Microsoft to restore it.

And please do check the deployment settings too.

Your Azure AI Search Index is correctly linked.

Your Deployment settings allow for external data augmentation.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
