As stated above:
In case your Java application needs to interact with APNs to send and receive notifications during and after Apple’s transition to their newer server certificates, you need to add the USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate to your truststore. This ensures that there is seamless communication with APNs during Apple's transition.
Not having this certificate in your truststore means that your application will likely not succeed in setting secure connections with APNs. This may cause problems with the delivery of push notifications.
