Can’t log into my account in the athenticator app

Question

I cannot log into Microsoft Outlook for my school account since it requires me to use the authenticator app. In order to to use the authenticator app for this account I have to login to the authenticator app and authenticate that it is me trying to use the authenticator app... which is impossible. There is nothing I can find online to resolve this and the helpline keeps hanging up on me and directing me to find answers online instead of finding a customer service representative for me. If you would like to help please do not point me in the direction of something that requires me to login to the account before being able to do anything since that seems to be the first step in most of these troubleshooting problems for some reason and is completely impossible for someone who cannot login to their account.
