Server name forced when trying to add a new mail account in Outlook

Hello, When I want to add a new email account in Outlook (classic), a server name is automatically displayed and it is not the one I want to use. Systematically, ssl0.ovh.net is displayed !!???

In the settings, I change the server name (pop.hostinger.com) and Outlook confirms that the account is active.

But then, the sending and receiving remains blocked on "processing in progress" for this account.

And if I close Outlook, I can no longer open it again.

I check the settings for this account and the ssl0.ovh.net server is still there!

I have to restart my computer, delete this new account in Outlook, restart my computer again to be able to use Outlook correctly.

How do I get out of this mess? I can no longer add any account.

Thank you for any help that will be welcome.

    Hi @Philippe Paris

    Welcome to our forum!

What is your account? Outlook.com or something else?

What is the version of your Outlook? It is recommended that you please check the Outlook client version (File>Office Account>Product Information) and try to upgrade to the latest version to see if the problem is resolved.

Would you please provide a screenshot of the issue?  (In order to avoid privacy leakage, please remember to hide your personal information.)

In addition, here are some steps you may want to take:

    1. Run Outlook in Safe Mode:
      • Press Windows + R keys.
      • Type Outlook.exe /safe and press Enter.
      • Try to add your account again and see if the issue persists.
    2. Check for Software Conflicts:
      • Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall to see if they are interfering.
      • Ensure your Windows operating system is up-to-date.
    3. Create a New Outlook Profile:
      • Go to Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles.
      • Click Add to create a new profile and set it up with your email account.
      • Try saving the server settings with the new profile.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you might want to try using the Outlook profile setup troubleshooter.

    Hope it helps!

    sorry for this delay.

My Outlook version came from 365 family

My mail account is host by Hostinger.com

Only changing profile solved my problem

So, this is the only way I have to set my ne account
