I am faced with an issue when using GDAP. When we access a clients tenant via GDAP we cannot use anything linked to eDiscovery.

Outside of GDAP I would go Purview > Settings > Roles and Groups and add the eDiscovery Manager/Administrator role to the account so I could perform a search.

How can we do this for GDAP accounts? The account I’m using definitely has the Compliance Administrator role applied via LightHouse but I am still encountering the issue as I believe the Purview roles are set within the client tenant itself.

Is there a way around this?

If there is a method to add GDAP accounts to Purview roles I would likely need a solution that I can roll out en-masse as we have a lot of technicians that need access to Purview.

    Hi @Awwab Asif

How can we do this for GDAP accounts?

When you're using GDAP to access a client's tenant, it's crucial to make sure that the right roles are assigned within the client's tenant. The Compliance Administrator role might not be enough for eDiscovery tasks unless the eDiscovery Manager/Administrator role is also assigned in the client's Purview settings.

Is there a way around this?

Unfortunately, there's no way to directly assign GDAP accounts to Purview roles from the partner side. The client must manage the roles and permissions within their own tenant. This means you'll need to work with the client to have them assign the eDiscovery Manager/Administrator role to the GDAP accounts within their Purview settings.

If you need to do this for multiple technicians, it might be helpful to coordinate with the client, create a list of the technicians who need access, and ask the client to assign the necessary roles to each one.
