Hello, I have been having an issue with OneDrive's embed function, which I use to embed pictures on my website. About two months ago, the embedded pictures stopped loading and on OneDrive, the sidebar instead shows the below:Screenshot 2025-02-12 at 13.55.54

And when I try to open the link, the following shows:Screenshot 2025-02-12 at 13.56.24

For reference, this has happened in the past, although the issue usually corrects itself in a day or so. I primarily use OneDrive on a browser, running Microsoft Edge on Mac OS.

I have attempted various remedies that I read on the Microsoft Community forums but none have worked thus far. Among those, I have tried:

  1. Using other browsers apart from Edge (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Duckduckgo)
  2. Turning off all browser extensions
  3. Turning off VPNs
  4. Using different networks
  5. Using different devices
  6. Crosschecking with colleagues in other countries (who report the same error)
  7. Logging in and out of OneDrive

I have also tried contacting Microsoft Support who could not give me different suggestions and instead suggested I contact OneDrive in-app support. Despite multiple reports to the in-app support, I have not received a response.

Could anyone suggest any solutions or possible explanations for this error?

Many thanks for your kind help.

    Hi @Raymond Kawazoe

There are indeed similar issues on Q&A forum and other community. Such as this thread: Embedding part of Excel file from Onedrive in iframe stopped working.

The issue seems to stem from changes Microsoft made to the OneDrive sharing link and embedding mechanism. Microsoft has simplified embedded URLs, which may break older embedding methods that rely on these parameters.

In the embedded URL, the previous "onedrive.live.com" was changed to "1drv.ms", the"resid"(The identifier for the file.) and "authkey"(A key used to authenticate the file’s access) information was removed.

I suggest you post a feedback thread in: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/e3f04660-2c1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472

Microsoft will listen to users' feedback and consider them for additional feature/future versions of Microsoft products. Your feedback helps Microsoft developers know which features are most important to you.

    Thanks for your understanding.
