    Hi Zero Trust Solutions,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum, thank you for posting your query here!

I hope you would have met the prerequisite requirements to get the Insights for the VM. then only you can be able to view the performance data or metrics for the VM. if you did not meet the prerequisites, please follow the below steps accordingly.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/vm/tutorial-monitor-vm-enable-insights#prerequisites

Though you were enabled the VM insights, if you are unable to see the metrics means there might be some chances that you would have missed to create a new data collection rule, because the default data collection rule doesn't include collection of processes and dependencies. So to enable this collection, you need to create a new data collection rule as highlighted below.

User's image Then provide a Data collection rule name and then select Enable processes and dependencies (Map).

User's image And keep the default Log Analytics workspace for the subscription unless you have another workspace that you want to use. Select Create to create the new data collection rule. Select Configure to start VM insights configuration.

Note: Configuration of the workspace and the agent installation typically takes 5 to 10 minutes. It takes another 5 to 10 minutes for data to become available to view in the portal.

Then you can view the performance data accordingly.

You can also refer to the below doc for better understanding.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/vm/tutorial-monitor-vm-enable-insights#view-performance

VM insights collects only performance data from the VM guest operating system, but it doesn't collect log data such as Windows event log or Syslog. If you want to collect these logs you need to create another data collection rule to perform this collection.

please refer to the below article to follow the same.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/vm/tutorial-monitor-vm-guest

Despite setting up all these things, if you are still unable to view the metrics then please troubleshoot the issue. such as

    1. Is the virtual machine running or not?
    2. Is the operating system supported? and etc.

you can also refer to the basic troubleshooting steps followed by the below article.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/vm/vminsights-troubleshoot

    Hope this helps!
