Unable to connect to new azure cluster

I am not authorized to connect to my newly-created azure data explorer cluster. My account is owner of the subscription, resource group and cluster, and it has alldatabaseadmin permission on the new cluster's database. Please advise

    Ah so in the kusto Connection pane, I clicked on Switch Directory and changed the selection from the Microsoft Account to Default Directory. That worked

    Yes, you need to be mentioned on that page if you want to act as an administrator:

    User's image

    This can be either on cluster level or on database level.

    From there be sure to select the right directory/account in the web interface of Azure Data Explorer.
