How to ensure 'Share to Teams' in Outlook saves files to the Files tab instead of just posting?

Until last week I was able to hit the "Share to Teams" button on Outlook, select a Team, and it would create a post and save the file to a folder called "Email Messages" within the "Files" section of the Team I was saving it to. I then distributed the files from that folder to the correct folder in that Team. Now, however, it only creates the post, and does not save the email or its attachments to files.

I was able to find the last folder that the system created this way in Sharepoint, which had been deleted as a new folder is generated by the system each month. I restored this most recent folder, but it did not return the functionality when I tested it. My workaround attempt was to sync the Team, creating a shortcut in File Explorer, then saving the email and attachments to that. However, this is not much better than manually saving each attachment, which is why we used this process in the first place.

    Hi @Jared Long

According to our official documentation, Share to Teams from Outlook enables users to share emails (including attachments) from Outlook to any chat or channel in Teams.

Share to Teams uses the same transport mechanism as when a user emails a channel. For sharing to chats, emails (including email attachments) are copied to the sender's OneDrive. For sharing to channels, emails and attachments are copied to the Email messages folder in SharePoint. In Teams, emails and attachments are automatically saved to the Email folder in the Files tab of the selected channel.

The Outlook add-in for Share to Teams uses requirement set 1.7, as detailed in Outlook add-ins documentation and Outlook add-in API requirement set 1.7, which include details on Outlook add-ins, environment requirements for Outlook add-ins, and the specific Outlook clients that are supported with requirement set 1.7.

If there are any errors, please restart the Outlook add-in. Or update Outlook and Teams to the latest version.
