Windows 10 Needed Activation in Air-Gapped System – Any Solutions?

Hi there,

I have a system environment that is offline/air-gapped and has been running for about five years.

Last week, all Windows 10 clients suddenly displayed a message stating that Windows needed to be activated. The only way I could reactivate them was by connecting to the internet - phone activation did not work. The systems use a Windows digital license.

My question is: Has anyone experienced this behavior before? Is there a way to prevent it? Or does Windows simply require an internet connection every few years to validate the license?

Thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Based on my understanding of this problem, I suggest you try the following methods to see if it can be solved:

1.Select the Start button, select Settings > Update & security > Activation, and then select Troubleshoot to run the Activation Troubleshooter. (If the machine is already activated, the Troubleshoot option will not appear.)

2.Open a Windows command prompt and run the command: slmgr.vbs /ato

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best regards

    Zunhui
