Hello community, I am looking for information on migrating SAP servers from a standard Azure subscription to the SAP RISE model. I would like to know if anyone has had recent experience with this process and can share some best practices. Additionally, what migration method have you used for this transition? I appreciate any advice or recommendations based on real experiences. Thanks in advance!

    Hi @Ezequiel Gustavo Muñoz,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

The most common method for migrating SAP servers to SAP RISE is the Brownfield approach, which involves a system copy using the Backup/Restore method. Here are the steps:Take Backup: Backup your existing S/4HANA system.

Move Backup: Transfer the backup to Object Storage provided by SAP.

Restore Backup: SAP team moves the backup to the storage attached to the HANA Database of the S/4HANA server.

Run SWPM: Use the Software Update Manager (SWPM) on the Migration Server.

Restore on SAP RISE: Restore the backup on the S/4HANA system hosted in the SAP RISE environment.

    Tools Needed:

    • SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit (MC): A web-based tool designed to facilitate data migration.
    • Rapid Data Migration (RDM): Powered by SAP Data Services, this tool is robust for data migration.
    • Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW): Useful for migrating data from legacy systems. The most common method for migrating SAP servers to SAP RISE is the Brownfield approach,
