How to update embedded app with filter for active record on form?

Hello,

I currently have a canvas app embedded in a model-driven form to select approvers for a process. I would like the embedded canvas app to be filtered based on the active record selected in the form.

Is there a simple way to pull the "active record" display name to filter within the canvas app?
