Accessing Windows Server folder within Sharepoint/OneDrive for Excel Workbook links

I have several data sets stored within an Isilon Server that is hosted on an in house wifi network. Some of which are are stored in .CSV and some in .XLSX formats. I want to be able to link that data to a commonly accessed excel file that is shared among a group of people working on it. I would love for this data to automatically update every couple days at minimum.

I have tried using workbook links which continually break every time someone accesses this excel file using the Excel for Web (ignoring issues with .csv workbook links) as our SharePoint does not have access to this server. What would be the easiest way to go about either linking these excel sheets so that Sharepoint/OneDrive has access to them?

Thanks.

    Hi @Noah Greisman ,

To link your Excel workbooks stored on an Isilon Server to SharePoint or OneDrive, you may need to consider a few options since SharePoint/OneDrive does not have direct access to your in-house server. Here are some potential solutions:

    1. Upload Data to SharePoint/OneDrive: If possible, consider uploading your .CSV and .XLSX files directly to SharePoint or OneDrive. Once the files are in SharePoint or OneDrive, you can create links to them from your commonly accessed Excel file. This way, the data can be easily accessed and updated.
    2. Excel has a powerful feature called Power Query which can connect to a variety of sources, including files stored on SharePoint or OneDrive. Since your data is stored on Isilon Server, we can't test it, and it will take some specific testing on your part to see if it can be implemented. What we can do for this is to provide an idea.
