You may have to explicitly choose a language for which you do not want spellchecking and grammar checking. This is a bit confusing, but it is worth testing. For example, you can set the Language of the style to "US English" while you specify "Do not check grammar or spelling."
Word style not working
I have defined a style in my document:
However, when I apply it, spelling is still being flagged in the text the style is applied to. How can I fix this? Thanks all!

Is this a paragraph style? Why have it based on the normal style?
How are you applying it? Do you have text selected?
Consider using a character style instead of a paragraph style if used for selected text.
