Hi, My company is using sharepoint for our library of files that inlcude Excel, Word & Powerpoint files. I have set sharepoint to automatically check out these files when opened as we do not Co-Author any files. However we prodominantly use AutoCAD & PDF files for our proejcts & i want to follow the same process for these files, but cannot set an automatic check out for them. Also i would like a notification to pop up when a colleague attempts to open a fie that is checked out, to warn them that the file is already being worked on. Any ideas on how i can do this?

    Hi @Michael Feehan,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We are very pleased to support you.

Unfortunately, SharePoint does not currently have the ability to set up automatic checkout of files when you open AutCAD & PDF Files. Auto-checkout is currently only available for Microsoft Office documents.

SharePoint being Microsoft software has very little ability to handle non-Microsoft Office files.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Certainly, if there is anything else we can do for you, please feel free to inform us.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
