Grafana plugin updating - how does it work? Specifically the clock panel plugin

Hello -

I have running an Azure Managed Grafana instance.

My primary issue right now: my local development environment uses the 'clock' plugin v2.18 - the latest compatible version.

The azure version uses 2.1.3, even though 2.1.8 is also compatible. From a skim of the rest of the installed plugins, this is an outlier. Everything else appears to use latest compatible version.

I see no method for updating this specific plugin, either in the grafana UI or in the Azure resource UI.

This seems a little odd? The newer version of the visualisation has a feature I require (adding variables, it's a count-from-last-event type of thing).

    Hi @Cam Nealie

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

You are using Azure Managed Grafana, and it looks like you're stuck with an older version of the clock plugin (2.1.3), even though you need features from the newer version (2.1.8). Unfortunately, Azure doesn’t allow you to manually update plugins, so you're limited to the versions they provide.

contact Azure Support and ask them if they can update the plugin to update the plugin as needed or when it becomes available. In the meantime, you can try to get a work-around by using the current plugin edition or find any other plugin that you can provide the same capabilities. If this is a recurring theme, you can even consider moving to Grafana Cloud or to your Grafana instance, where you will control more plugins.
