Hello. I am a University student who is pursuing a simple chatbot project and I recently discovered that I am being charged a lot from Azure from using some services. I request you to please provide waiver for those charges and let me know the details so I should ensure it should not be charged next time.

Hello Rijul Chaddha, sorry to hear about your Azure charges. Are you using the Azure free trial subscription? If so, then, please be mindful of the fact that not all the services are free and even within the list of services, there are generally free quotas. Please refer here - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/pricing/purchase-options/azure-account?icid=azurefaq#free-services. If you're instead using the Pay as you Go model, then, until and unless, you have chosen one of the Free SKUs, you'll naturally be incurring some charges. Please check your resources and downgrade your services to one of the supported Free SKUs to avoid charges. Otherwise, there isn't a way to rollback the charges for the services that you have created in a full PAYG capacity. You may try opening a support ticket with Microsoft but it's quite unlikely that they may reverse your charges here.

    Hi Rijul Chaddha,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A!

    1. Check your billing in the Azure portal to see what’s causing the charges. Go to Cost Management + Billing and look at Cost Analysis.
    2. If you're a student, make sure you're using Azure for Students—you get $100 in free credits and free services. Check it out here.
    3. Contact Azure Support and ask if they can remove the charges, especially if you didn’t realize what you were being charged for.
    4. Set up spending limits or alerts so you don’t accidentally go over your budget next time.

And remember to delete anything you’re not using to save even more.

    Hope this helps.
