Every since we started setting up our work issued computers with Microsoft log ins, we've lost the ability to use Remote Desktop Connection. In settings>system>remote desktop> we can not engage the toggle to On. Level 1 MS support sent me to Azure Cloud support and, so, here I am.System Desktop toggle off

On a laptop I set up bypassing everything MS log in.. Local account, same network, it works fine.

What did we miss? yes , I've checked the group policy editors and all the other basic stuff. Yes, I have to ask not to treat me like a newbie.. I've been doing this for over a decade and have solved problems that MS told me couldn't be done. I hope you understand and I look forward to what the community suggests.

    Hi John Marsiano,

As mentioned by MotoX80, we all get the message as "some settings are managed by your organization" as User's image

    The gpresult.exe /r /v result shows

    USER SETTINGS
    --------------
Last time Group Policy was applied: 1/20/2025 at 6:27:50 AM
Group Policy was applied from: N/A
Group Policy slow link threshold: 500 kbps
        Domain Name:
        Domain Type: WindowsNT 4
        Applied Group Policy Objects
        -----------------------------
            N/A

From the output of gpresult /r /v, it looks like there are no Group Policy Objects (GPOs) applied to the user or computer in this case.

Since you're seeing "Some settings are managed by your organization," it's likely that the device is being managed via Intune (MDM) or some Azure AD policies instead of traditional GPOs.

The device could be Azure AD-joined and managed by Intune, which would not show up in the typical GPO results but might be controlling these settings.

Check for Remote Desktop Policies in Intune: If Intune is indeed managing the device, look for any Remote Desktop policies or restrictions applied through Device Configuration profiles in Microsoft Endpoint Manager.Ask your IT team or Administrator to check Azure AD policies that might restrict RDP access.

Azure Virtual machines tag is mainly focused on the issue of Azure Virtual Machines troubleshooting. According to your description, your question is not in our support scope. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

I understand how frustrating it can be when you’re unable to access elevated support, especially when you're using Microsoft 365 Business Premium accounts and Azure services. If you want more granular or specialized support, you may need to upgrade to a higher support plan for Azure (like Professional Direct or Premier Support). You can find more details here Azure Support Plans Comparisonor check if Your IT Team Has Admin Access to Azure Support.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you!
