My customer initially subscribed to Microsoft 365 OE1 with 300 licenses and Microsoft Business Standard with 300 licenses. They required a solution for Microsoft Purview Information Protection and DLP for Endpoint, which is currently under trial.

To address this need, I provisioned the following add-ons to their existing licenses:

  1. Microsoft 365 E5 Information Protection and Governance – to enable DLP for Endpoint.
  2. Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 – to leverage Azure Information Protection for use with desktop Office applications.

The solution has been deployed successfully, and the following functionalities are working as intended:

  • Blocking copy-to-clipboard actions from Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files with a defined label policy applied On Desktop App .

Current Issue:

However, there is an issue with Office on the Web. While the DLP for Endpoint policies effectively block copy-to-clipboard actions in desktop applications, the same restriction is not being enforced in the web versions of Office applications.

Request for Assistance:

Do you have any recommendations or solutions for deploying DLP policies to effectively block copy-to-clipboard actions in Office on the Web? Any deployment guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated. My customer initially subscribed to Microsoft 365 OE1 with 300 licenses and Microsoft Business Standard with 300 licenses. Hi @TECHIT SRIWICHAI

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A platform and thanks for posting your query here.

I understand that you are facing an issue with DLP for Endpoint policies not being enforced in Office on the Web, specifically with regards to blocking copy-to-clipboard actions.

Unfortunately, at this time, DLP for Endpoint policies are not supported in Office on the Web. This means that the same restrictions that are enforced in desktop applications may not be enforced in the web versions of Office applications.

However, Microsoft is continuously working to improve the functionality and capabilities of their products, and it is possible that support for DLP for Endpoint policies in Office on the Web may be added in the future.

In the meantime, you may want to consider using other methods to prevent data leakage, such as restricting access to sensitive data or using third-party solutions that can provide additional protection.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
