Certificate profiles - Profile deleted by mistake

Hello,

I have the basic plan, where I can have 1 certificate profile of each type.

I deleted one of my certs by mistake, and now I cannot create a new one, since it says that I've reached the limit

"You have reached maximum limit of certificate profiles of selected type in this account. Consider changing pricing tier of this account to create more certificate profiles of selected type."

The cert appears as deleting, and atm I can't do anything, neither create a new one, or cancel the deletion..

Does anyone know if after the cert has been permanently deleted I can create a new one, and how much time does it take to be deleted?

Thanks

    Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

It depends on the platform’s retention behavior—often there is a “soft delete” phase where the certificate profile isn’t fully removed right away. During that time, the platform continues to count it against your quota. Typically:

    1. Soft Delete / Grace Period: Many services keep deleted certificates in a soft-deleted state for a fixed number of days (7, 30, or 90 days). During that time, you usually can’t recreate or replace it unless you purge it or wait out the retention period.
    2. Purging (If Supported): Check if your service/portal allows “purge” or “force delete.” Purging lets you immediately and permanently remove the certificate from your account, freeing up the quota to create a new one. If purging isn’t supported, you must wait for the certificate to age out of soft-delete.
    3. Upgrade Your Plan: If you need additional certificates or can’t wait for soft-delete to finish, you may need to upgrade your pricing plan (from Basic to Standard).

Since you’re already seeing “deleting” status, your best bet is to see if a purge option is available or wait for it to fully delete. Once that happens (and it stops counting against your quota), you’ll be able to create a new certificate profile. If there’s no direct way to purge, you could contact support or wait the standard retention period, which varies by service (commonly a few days to a month).
