Hi,

Moving a query over from MS Learn forums. MS, we require a GPO setting to manage the MS Edge option "Enable machine learning powered autofill suggestions".

Understood that the per-user process to disable this, is for a user to enable "Save and fill basic info", then the slider for "Enable machine learning powered autofill suggestions" becomes available to turn off; note that this process is not available on the Edge privacy page: Microsoft Edge Privacy Whitepaper | Microsoft Learn, one must glean it from the info provided, or find the solution elsewhere.

We have used a registry monitoring tool to record any changes before and after toggling "Enable machine learning powered autofill suggestions", there does not appear to be a registry property to control this. This is not helpful in our organization, we have the GPO user setting disabled for Edge "Enable AutoFill for addresses" which sets HKCU:\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge AutofillAddressEnabled=0, this is enforced by our Cyber Security Team. Additionally, it is not practical to request each individual of an organisation to toggle an option to fix the issue.

"Enable machine learning powered autofill suggestions" is becoming a hindrance to the business. Image

    Hi @Michael O'Brien

Indeed, there's no GPO to control "Enable machine learning powered autofill suggestions" for now. If you'd like to request a new feature, feel free to send feedback via Edge's "…" menu in the top right > Help and feedback > Send feedback.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Hi Yu,

Thanks for the response, I guess it would be nice for MS to think about such things prior to releasing such a feature. In Au at least, many organisations have a Cyber Security team always trying to comply to Australia's Signals Directorate Essential 8 safeguards (depending on target maturity level); we lock down applications according to the Center for Internet Security's level 1 benchmarks.

The short story continues where the option to 'send feedback' is also blocked in Edge to satisfy level 1 application hardening requirements... Not MS's problem I guess, but for Cyber Security teams, this stuff is their bread and butter.

Ensure 'Allow user feedback' is set to 'Disabled'

    Description:

This policy setting controls whether users are able to utilize the Edge Feedback feature to send feedback, suggestions and surveys to Microsoft as well as issue reports.

The recommended state for this setting is: Disabled.

    Rationale:

Data should not be shared with third-party vendors in an enterprise managed environment.
