In the last 24 hours I have logged 738 of these 131 errors. Source: DeviceSetupManager. Text:

Metadata staging failed, result=0x800704D9 for container '{A8AC14F9-EDEA-5F6C-9E6F-E0E8E59A4C8D}'

Now, the container info my change but the result remains the same. Other then getting the errors (red ! Error), there appears to be nothing wrong with the system. So before I want down the road of chasing for the container ID I thought I would see if anybody else has run into this.

I said the last 24 hours above to give you an idea of the amount, they have actually been going on for some time now.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

The Event ID 131 typically indicates an issue with device metadata retrieval. This can often be related to network connectivity problems or issues with the Windows Update service.

Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Ensure that your system has a stable internet connection
    2. Restart the Windows Update Service:
    3. Clear the SoftwareDistribution Folder: “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution” and delete all files and folders inside.
    4. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter:

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.

    • Select "Windows Update" and run the troubleshooter.

    1. Disable Device Metadata Retrieval:

    • Open Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.

    • Right-click your computer icon and select Device installation settings.

    • Choose No (your device might not work as expected) and save changes.

    1. Check for Windows Updates:

    • Ensure your system is up to date by checking for and installing any pending Windows updates.

    1. Modify the Registry (Advanced):

    • Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.

    • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Device Metadata.

    • Ensure the DeviceMetadataServiceURL value is set to

    https://dmd.metaservices.microsoft.com/dms/metadata.svc.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,
