Hi

I would like to confirm my reading of GPT4 deprecation with the community to confirm I have this right.

The latest GPT4 model in UK SOUTH is model version 0125. This is due to be deprecated on Jan 27th:

Question

For those of us on 0125, does this mean we will be automatically upgraded to turbo-2024-09 despite it not being available in UK SOUTH yet?

Second question

If this is the case, for those of us who need to control model updates, we need to know the window when the upgrade will happen to control within our lifecycle, is there any way to achieve this?

Thanks!

    Hi Harrison Kirby,
Greetings & Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum! Thanks for posting your query!

For those of us on 0125, does this mean we will be automatically upgraded to turbo-2024-09 despite it not being available in UK SOUTH yet?
Microsoft may make the model available in UK South before the deprecation date, or they might have an alternative upgrade path. To get definitive clarity on this, I recommend please raise a support request through the Azure portal Microsoft Support.

If this is the case, for those of us who need to control model updates, we need to know the window when the upgrade will happen to control within our lifecycle, is there any way to achieve this?

If an upgrade is planned, Microsoft typically provides advance notice to customers to allow sufficient time for planning and lifecycle management. I recommend monitoring the Azure OpenAI Service documentation and release notes for updates on model availability, upgrades, or deprecations. Additionally, contacting Microsoft Support is a good way to gather specific information and ensure your planning aligns with their timeline.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any further queries.
