When attempting to open netplwiz, nothing appears. Steps taken include restarting the computer, accessing it through the Run dialog, and trying to run it as an admin. Additionally, control userpasswords2 does not function either. What could be the solution?

Is this a new PC? Did this work at some point in time?

You might be running "Windows S".

Can you open a Powershell prompt and run these commands? (Copy and paste.)

Get-ComputerInfo | fl -Property WindowsProductName, OSDisplayVersion, OsName, OsVersion, OsBuildNumber
    Get-LocalUser

If you can't run Powershell, then you probably have "S". Check the Edition.

Check if there are logs in Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)

or trace it with Process Monitor (filter with Process Name contains netplwiz)

    Hi captainknife34,

Thanks for your post. If netplwiz is not launching, you can try the following steps to fix it:

    1. Press Windows + I to open Windows Settings.
    2. Click Accounts.
    3. Click Sign-in options in the left panel.
    4. Turn off the “Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts” option.
    5. Turn off the “Make your device passwordless” option.
    6. Restart your computer and type netplwiz in Windows Run again to open the User Accounts window.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
