I renamed my PC and after restarting, my own PC (with its new name) is now appearing under the network tab in file explorer.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

This is normal behavior for a Windows PC in a networked environment. When you rename a computer, Windows updates its network identification, which causes it to show up in the network location section of File Explorer.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

It sounds like your PC is correctly recognizing itself on the network with the new name you assigned to it. This is normal behavior in Windows, as it allows you to access shared files and resources on your own machine as if you were accessing another device on the network.

If you want to stop your PC from appearing in the network tab, you can disable network discovery. Here's how to do that:

    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Go to Network and Sharing Center.
    3. Click on Change advanced sharing settings.
    4. Under your current network profile (Private, Guest, or All Networks), look for the Network discovery section.
    5. Select Turn off network discovery.
    6. Click Save changes.

Please note that turning off network discovery will prevent your PC from seeing other devices on the network as well as being seen by other devices. If this is not what you want, you may need to leave it as is.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu
