Monitoring Azure Files Sync Conflict Files

We're having a moderately successful pre-production environment with Azure Files Sync but have encountered the occasional conflict file from separate sites simultaneously accessing the file. There does not appear to be a baked-in solution, but if I wanted to monitor\alert on our storage for instances of conflict files (which could be simply matching the -SERVERNAME portion), what service would you start looking into?

    Hi @BH MHC

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A, thanks for posting your query.

You can set up monitoring and alerts in Azure Monitor, which provides a comprehensive way to track activity in your Azure resources. You can use it to monitor Azure File Sync logs for conflict file occurrences.

The Azure Monitor service collects and aggregates metrics and logs from every component of your system. Azure Monitor provides you with a view of availability, performance, and resilience, and notifies you of issues. Monitor Azure Files

Azure Monitor alerts proactively notify you when specific conditions are found in your monitoring data. Alerts allow you to identify and address issues in your system before your customers notice them. For more information, see Azure Monitor alerts.

To monitor and alert on conflict files in Azure Files Sync, this service allows you to create alerts based on specific conditions, such as the presence of conflict files. You would need to set up a monitoring solution that checks for files with the naming convention that includes the -SERVERNAME portion, which indicates a conflict file.

You can create alerts in Azure Monitor by navigating to your Storage Sync Service in the Azure portal, selecting the Monitoring section, and then setting up a new alert rule. This will allow you to proactively monitor for conflict files and take necessary actions when they are detected.
