I have two servers, one APP and another DB. I installed the migration assistants just to explore the environment and get information and insights to plan my migration project. On the APP server, I used the Azure Migrate App Assessment Assistant, and on the database server, the DMA - Data Migration Assistant. However, it doesn't go past the first step, and there are some errors, as if the data isn't being sent correctly to Azure. It does identify the components in my environment, such as sites and databases, but they never complete the process entirely

    Hi @Victor Danin

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

First make sure your App and DB servers have internet access, as the tools need to connect to Azure. Check if there is a firewall or security policy blocking these connections. Also, make sure your account has the necessary permissions in Azure. You will need at least the Contributor role to run the search properly.

It’s also a good idea to check if you’re using the latest Azure Migrate and DMA tools. Older versions can sometimes cause problems, and updates often bring fixes to bugs. If the tools still fail, you can view the logs generated from both Azure Migrate and DMA. These logs can give you more information about where the process remains complex or what errors occur.

For the DMA tool, ensure that the database server is configured to allow remote connections and that the device has the appropriate permissions to test the databases. If you use the App Assessment tool and it crashes into certain websites (such as “boleto” or “default web site”), make sure those sites are working properly

If the tools still do not run, try enabling debug mode, which provides detailed error information. This can help pinpoint the exact location of the issue. Additionally, make sure your Azure subscription has sufficient resources (such as storage or compute power) and is in zones supported by migration tools.

@Victor Danin Thank you for reaching out.

If you are trying to migrate your on-prem SQL DB to Azure SQL DB, please use the Azure SQL migration extension for Azure Data Studio.

    DMA is on deprecation path.

    Regards,

    Oury
