how do I get my TV to be recognised as an audio output and not just another monitor

After installing a new motherboard and cpu, my system is not recognizing my TV, which is connected via HDMI, as an audio output. When connected I can get picture but not audio.
I have checked and my PC recognizes it as a Generic PnP Monitor.
When unplugging my headphones, with the TV plugged in, my PC says that there are no audio devices connected.
The TV Audio was working prior to the install of the new components

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your post. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Update audio drivers: Go to the manufacturer's website for your laptop and download the latest audio drivers for your specific model. Install the drivers and restart your laptop.
    2. Check default audio device: Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings." Under the “Output” section, make sure your TV is selected as the default audio device. If it's not listed, try connecting the HDMI cable while the TV is turned on and see if it appears.
    3. Enable audio output: Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings." Scroll down to the "Advanced sound options" section and click on "App volume and device preferences." Make sure the TV is not muted and the volume is turned up.
    4. Disable audio enhancements: Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings." Under the “Output” section, click on "Device properties." Go to the “Enhancements” tab and check the box next to "Disable all enhancements." Click Apply and see if the audio starts working.
    5. Test with different HDMI cables: Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the TV. Sometimes, faulty cables can cause audio issues.
    6. Try different HDMI ports: If your laptop has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting to a different port on your laptop and see if the audio works.
    7. Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date with the latest updates. Go to Settings > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates."

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Thank you.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
