Azure signup identity verification is broken in UK

Question

When trying to signup for azure, at the mandatory step to validate my identity, when I enter a valid UK phone number, it takes me to an error page saying it is unable to validate. I have tried this on multiple browsers and with multiple phone numbers. I have also tried the option for "Use a different phone number to verify your identity." which has the same result.

I have tried both with and without the leading 0, ie 078XX 123456 and 78xx 123456

Can someone please help as this means I am stuck and I have a project that I was planning on using AI Foundry for.
