Hello Team,

We are attempting to enroll a device as an Autopilot object in a new tenant without resetting it. The device was previously enrolled in an old tenant. Below are the steps we followed:

Unenroll Device from Old Tenant:

  • Unenrolled the device from Intune.
  • Performed Intune registry cleanup.
  • Deregistered the device from Autopilot.
  • Performed Autopilot registry cleanup.
  • Ran dsregcmd /leave to disconnect the device from the old tenant.

Enroll Device in New Tenant:

  • Enrolled the device in the new tenant.
  • Uploaded the hardware hash to Autopilot.

After completing these steps, the device appears as an Autopilot object in the Entra portal but shows as non-compliant.
Is this the correct approach to enroll a device in Autopilot without performing a reset?

Thank you!

@Anant Bera, thanks for posting in Q&A. After going through your process. I find the device is only Autopilot register in new tenant. The device is not Autopilot enrolled into Intune. You can check the MDM of the device object in Microsoft Entra ID. It will show none. And the device object is not in Intune.

For existing using device, we need to do windows reset to trigger it to download the Autopilot enrollment profile to do the enroll. If you don't want to reset the device, you can choose other enrollment method instead of Autopilot enrollment method. Like configure Automatic enrollment and then do Microsoft Entra Join to trigger the device enroll into Intune.

Hope the above information can help.
