We have just updated to Win 11 24H2 and use stand alone Office 2016 Standard. We are experiencing problems with opening Excel spreadsheets from hyperlinks, File Explorer and some of our applications e.g. MS Dynamics GP. If Excel is already open then things work fine, but it refuses to open if it isn't - the file never loads and we have to kill Excel using Task Manager to try again. Any ideas folks?

    Hello,

it's a well known bug from Microsoft, with the last update on Windows 11, the version 24H2, we are experience a lot of problems when Excel 2016 is launching.

Excel HANGS and we have to kill Excel by task manager. It's incredible why Microsoft do not have create a emergency case for this. We are waitig for patch correction.

I found a solution with a great guy who create a script that launch in background task MS Office 2016 Excel and Word. Then the problem is bypassed for the moment !

    Hi @Eduardo Olvera Vidales

Before the problem occurred, did you perform any other operations besides updating the Windows system?

Please go to Excel Options > Advanced, under General section, untick the box of "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange".

Locate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16, look for EXCEL.EXE, right click on it > Properties > Compatibility tab, check "Run this Program as an Administrator".If these steps do not work, I suggest you repair Office from Control Panel, you may also re-install Office for a check.
