Server2025 installation on physical host is stuck

Hey guys

The Situation:

I downloaded the evaluation ISO from Microsoft's official website.

I attempted two different methods to perform the upgrade:

In-place upgrade on the existing OS: The process ran up to 100%, the server restarted, but then it got stuck on the Windows logo with the spinning circle.

Booting from USB or Virtual Media (via Intel BMC): Both methods produced similar behavior. The POST process completes, the ISO begins loading (black screen with a loading bar), and then it transitions to the Windows logo with the spinning circle. At this point, the process stalls indefinitely, with no further progress.

Current Status:

The server is currently running Windows Server 2022, and this OS is functioning without any issues.

Any advice on how to resolve this behavior would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve these issues:

    1. Check Hardware Compatibility:

    • Ensure that your hardware meets the minimum requirements for Windows Server 2025.

    • Verify that your BIOS/UEFI firmware is up to date.

    1. Limit Logical Processors:

    • If your server has more than 256 logical processors, limit the number to 256 or fewer. You can do this by entering the UEFI setup during boot and adjusting the settings

    1. Disable Unnecessary Hardware:

    • Disconnect any non-essential hardware components (e.g., additional storage drives, external devices) during the installation process.
