On an Azure linux VM I am seeing dropped RX packets on the enP interface

enP57696s1: flags=6211<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SLAVE,MULTICAST>  mtu 1500
        inet6 fe80::20d:3aff:fe4b:6a50  prefixlen 64  scopeid 0x20<link>
        ether 00:0d:3a:4b:6a:50  txqueuelen 1000  (Ethernet)
        RX packets 60386950728  bytes 21409644450177 (21.4 TB)
        RX errors 0  dropped 40926  overruns 0  frame 0
        TX packets 48632243937  bytes 15468051597591 (15.4 TB)
        TX errors 0  dropped 0 overruns 0  carrier 0  collisions 0

There are no other issues with the VM that I'm aware of. I have other VMs running in other regions that are not impacted. The VMs all run the same application and are based on the same VM image / OS. I can see this occurring in the West Europe location as well as West US 2, but not two other regions.

What are these interfaces even for?

    Hi @Fred Gardner,

    Thank you for your patience.

    This is usually caused when the resource SKU you've selected, such as VM size, isn't available for a location or zone.

    If a SKU isn't available for your subscription in a location or zone that meets your business needs, submit a SKU request to Azure Support.
