SCCM updates scan failure

Received an error in the wuagent log: "Failed to Add Update Source for WUAgent of type (2) and id ({xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx}). Error = 0x80070583."

What steps can be taken to resolve this issue?

1. Ensure that the registry settings for the Windows Update Agent are correctly configured. Specifically, check the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate registry key to confirm that the WUStatusServer and UseWUServer values are set correctly.
2. You may try to reset the Windows Update components manually:

Stop the Windows Update service by running net stop wuauserv.

Rename the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.old.

Start the Windows Update service again by running net start wuauserv.

Initiate a software update scan cycle.
