We have a VDI environment where we want to use Excel 2021. We have volume licenses for Excel 2021 LTSC with up to 10 activations. In our VDI environment, each user login creates a machine, but we would validate the license with a specific user email. The issue arises with the following: if I have a maximum of 10 installations, there shouldn’t be an issue if 10 users log in on the first day. However, if a user logs out today, and connects again tomorrow, the machine will have a different name. Even though the user is the same, it’s considered a different machine. Does it still detect only 10 installations, or does it count this as an additional installation? And how can we resolve this?

    Hi,

I suggest you refer to this support article:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-apps/licensing-activation/overview-shared-computer-activation

In my opinion, your requirements need to use Office 365 to help you achieve them. With the exception of Office 365, all other products require device-based activation.

    Hope the information is helpful.
