How to create a VPN Gateway with AZ SKU in CanadaEast

We received an email named VPN Gateway non-AZ SKUs (VpnGw 1–5) will be retired and automatically migrated on 16 September 2026.

While we understand that VPN Gateway non-AZ SKUs will be retired and automatically migrated to AZ SKUs in 2026, it states that we wont be able to create new gateways on VpnGw1-5 SKUs after 31 December 2024.

We tried to create a new VPN Gateway in region CanadaEast but we could not select a AZ SKU (only non-AZ SKUs were available). When creating a VPN Gateway in region CanadaCentral however, we could see the AZ SKU options (VpnGwAZ 1-5).

Can you please confirm we will be able to create a VPN gateway with AZ SKU (VpnGwAZ 1-5) in CanadaEast after 31 December 2024 as it doesn't seem to be the case now?

    It's possible that the CanadaEast region hasn't fully enabled availability zones for VPN gateways, which is why you're currently seeing only non-AZ SKUs. This should change by the end of 2024 when the migration to AZ SKUs is complete.
