Greetings,

We are planning to implement SSIS (For ETL) and SQL DWH (For processing and storage).

We have will have around 200 tables to extract incremental data. ETL Activities will be small, mostly COPY Activities. Source system has total 200 tables, combined data size at source is 25 TB, increments 200 DB daily. Only one time data replication is required during the day.

Questions:

  1. What shall be tentative Infrastructure Requirements (Cores and Memory)
  2. What shall be licensing policy (Enterprise, or other) for SSIS
SQL Server Integration Services
SQL Server Integration Services
A Microsoft platform for building enterprise-level data integration and data transformations solutions.

    Infrastructure Requirements

    1. ETL Server (SSIS):
      • Cores: 8-16
      • Memory: 32-64 GB RAM
    2. Data Warehouse (SQL DWH):
      • Cores: 16-32
      • Memory: 64-128 GB RAM

    Licensing for SSIS

    Enterprise Edition:

    • Core-based licensing.
      • Best for high-performance needs.

    Standard Edition:

    • Core-based or Server + CAL licensing.
      • Suitable for most scenarios.

    Hi @Dinesh Kumar Sharma,

1.SQL Server provides a single setup program to install any or all of its components, including Integration Services. Use SQL Server setup to install Integration Services with or without other SQL Server components on a single computer.

This article highlights important considerations that you should know before you install Integration Services. Information in this article helps you evaluate your installation options so that your selection results in a successful installation.

    Install Integration Services (SSIS)

2.To install SSIS, you need a SQL Server license. Depending on the tasks you want to do with SSIS, you either need Enterprise or Standard licensing. In most scenarios, Standard should be sufficient. It also means you need a SQL Server license for every machine you install SSIS on. If you install SSIS on the same machine as the database engine, SSIS "comes free" with the SQL Server license.

    Regards,

    Zoe Hui
