Custom Translators for Hmong and Somali

Question

Hello, I am trying to do some translation from Hmong and Somali to English for an application I am working on where users can input some free-form text fields and we have to present that information to English-only speakers to act on. We have a translator set up and the translation we are getting for Hmong in specific is somewhat passable but frequently very far from the mark with just the base model so I wanted to see about uploading training data in the customization portal to hopefully help make it better over time as we have some native speakers translate things for us but it seems like not all supported languages for the model are supported in the Custom Translator portal to add training data for. Why is that? Is there a timeline on when Hmong and Somali will be available in the Custom Translator portal to add training data for? Or is this something I would need to go fully custom for and set up manually if I want to train the model on additional Hmong and Somali examples?

Hello @Joseph Bozarth (He/They) (MNIT) , Custom Translator supports more than three dozen languages. Unfortunately, Hmong and Somali languages are not supported in the custom translator.

The languages that are supported for the specific service are listed in the documentation. For a complete list, see Translator language support.

You can try cloud -Text translation and document translation methods for these languages, as they are supported.
