Help Needed with Windows Developer Program Registration as a Business

I’m trying to register for the Windows program to sell desktop apps on the marketplace, but I’m confused about the setup. Here’s the situation:

• Initially, I started signing up as an “individual” but realized I should have registered as a “company” since I’m a professional developer with a registered business.

• Now, I’m stuck on the credit card page for the individual account, with no way to go back or switch to a company account.

I already have a Microsoft Partner Center account, verified as a business, but when I try to sign up for the “Windows” program, it prompts me to use an individual account instead. This prevents me from using my company name as my display name, since it’s linked to my business ("workplace") account.

I tried contacting support, but I keep getting redirected to FAQs or automated responses with no clear way to reach someone for help.

Is there a way to use my existing business verification for the Windows program or switch my account type?

Thanks for any guidance!

    Hello @PeterFA ,

According to the document Developer account fees and locations, once you select the account type and go to the next page it cannot be changed.

You can't change the account type once you make your selection, so be sure to choose the right type.

If you need to select business account type, you will need to start over with a new email address to register successfully. Also, if the added a publisher name as well you will need to change that in your current account in order to use it on the new account.

    Thank you.
