- Restart Network Resources
- Restart the device you are trying to access (like a shared folder or printer).
- Restart your computer to refresh the network connection.
- Check Network Connections
- Ensure that all network cables are securely connected and not damaged.
- If using Wi-Fi, confirm that your device is within range of the router and that the signal is strong.
- Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily
- Sometimes, security software can block network access. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus and check if the issue persists. If it resolves the issue, consider adjusting the settings to allow access.
- Enable SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off.
- Check the box for SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and restart your computer.
- Update Network Adapter Drivers
- Open Device Manager (right-click on the Start button).
- Expand Network adapters, right-click your adapter, and select Update driver.
- Run System File Checker
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type
sfc /scannow
and press Enter. This will check for and repair any corrupted system files.
- Map Network Drive Using IP Address
Instead of using the network name, try mapping the drive using the IP address:
- Open File Explorer > This PC > Map Network Drive.
- Enter the path as
\\IP_address\shared_folder
.
- Check Network Services
Ensure that the Workstation and Server services are running:
- Search for Services in the taskbar.
- Locate Workstation and Server, ensure they are set to Automatic and are running.
